Never more will you have to pack two pairs of heels for a long weekend. Wear them with bare legs and the perfect pedicure in my favorite, OPI’s “Thrill of Brazil.” Or pair them with gray tights and cute skirts when the weather turns cold.
These versatile Anthropologie heels are for the chick, who can’t decide between her favorite jeans, a sexy pencil skirt or a feminine dress.
Let me first warn you that I am on a little bit of a rampage today. And those close to me know that this generally means, I am occasionally handing out my unsolicited opinions, in a not-so-subtle way… ok maybe more than occasionally.
First, I’m going to start out with the positive. I ordered my first pair of Pour La Victoire platform pumps. I always love the look of platform pumps in ads or on celebs, but feel a little “pole dancer-y” in them myself. But trust me when I tell you that I need the height, and these Irina II pumps are sky high, which generally means you have to be “high” to wear them!
Pour La Victoire Irina II pumps, lastcall.com Sale $175
But I am here to tell you that these are amazingly comfortable. The insole of the shoe is padded and the 5″ heel is offset by a nice 1.5″ platform. The toe is rounded, which means that your toes have plenty of room. The upper provides a snug fit, which is obviously important when you are walking around on your tip toes for extended periods of time. And since they are so high, they make your legs look fabulous as any good platform pump should.
While these are not a particularly cheap pair of shoes, they aren’t in the out-of-reach Louboutin segment of the shoe population either. And wait for a good sale at lastcall.com (read almost daily) and you can pick these up for a song.
Women's Authentic Original Covered Pump by Jeffrey, Sperrytopsider.com $250
I know shoes are probably featured on the Daily Covet more often than not but it’s the easiest and the most fun thing to shop for.
Your shoes always fit (save during pregnancy.) And those days of the month when your clothes don’t fit or you’re feeling a bit frumpy for whatever reason – slipping into a gorgeous pair of shoes can make you feel as good as new again!
And these adorable platform loafers from Sperry Top Sider are no exception. I’m also making the assumption that are outrageously comfortable and heavenly to wear. A great multi-season pair of shoes, these are a must-have to wear with jeans, pencil skirts, twin sets and anything else that needs an edge!
Some of you might remember that I have been searching furiously for a pair of black sandals to replace my once favorite sandals that walked a million miles with me.
Well, I thought I had found them and was so excited… then a little disappointed… then a lot disappointed… so much so, that I am sending them back. I won’t go into a long list of details about the deterioration of what I thought was going to be the perfect pair of sandals but let’s just say, I’m surprised anyone would want to put their label on something so cheap and shotty!
Nine West "Saffia", Piperlime.com sale $69.99
As you can see, the culprits are awfully adorable and I wore them often for several weeks. They were the perfect length for my longer jeans, flow-y linen pants (yep, finally got ‘em!) and looked really cute with sundresses too. But little by little, I started to peel back the layers – literally – so off they go to Piperlime.com‘s “Return Heaven.”
So after returning from a trip that sealed their fate, I have again tracked down a pair of black sandals with a wedge heel, ankle strap and small platform. You wouldn’t think this such an incredibly difficult task. However, try to find a pair of sandals these days that don’t include cork or raffia heels.
Go on, I dare you…
charles by Charles David "Tickler", Zappos.com $90
I have just checked tracking information and it seems these adorable little gems are “out for delivery” as I type this post. Thanks to Zappos.com and a friend with a “preferred status”, they are arriving today. I have always been a fan of Charles David shoes and have been wearing them for 20 years. In fact, they were once “higher end” but I think the company sold out and now they are called “charles by Charles David.” Not as swanky but the comfort factor remains, which is all I really care about.
So, cross your fingers and keep your eyes out for a follow-up of pure jubilation… or possibly utter disgust. Let’s hope not.
