No ordinary Loafers

I went looking for glitter ballet flats.  I love how they look with plain old jeans and a t-shirt and thought it would be great “Mom Street Style.”  Comfortable.  Unexpected.  While I did find quite a few pairs of adorable flats, I fell in love with these glitter loafers more!

Leave glitter loafers to Kate Spade, friends.  Don’t like blue?  They come in black, gold and rose too!  And with a little bow tie to boot….er shoe.

Take a peak at peep-toe Cole Haans

There are few things better than the marriage between shoe maker extraordinaire and sneaker maker extraordinaire.  Several years ago, I bought two pairs of Cole Haan ballet flats with Nike Air technology.  I was pregnant at the time, and just needed comfortable shoes that I could chase my then 2 1/2YO  around in, without looking like a schlep.

They were on sale, so I treated myself to both pairs, one leopard calf hair with chocolate patent around the edges and the other, which were zebra calf hair with black patent edges.  They have been amazing shoes now for over 3 years, and may just be the first pairs of shoes I have actually “worn out.”

So, I’m looking for new ones.  These Cole Haan Air Tali Jeweled Ballerina flats are a little more summery and a little less all-purpose than the calf hair ones, but I still love them.  And if I’m going to pay good money for a pedicure, I definitely want to show off my toes anyway!

Raindrops, please fall on my Aigle rain boots

Rain boots.  I don’t have ‘em.  I’ve ordered and tried on loads of rain boots… my calves are too big.  (Don’t get me started on that annoying subject!)

So when Aigle rain boots popped up on Gilt.com this morning for $99, I was intrigued.  I always look, but never buy.  But I love how cute they are on people with skinny legs and who are taller than 5’3″ on a good day.

I probably won’t buy rain boots, but for those of you, who love them AND look good in them (grrrrrr…), this is a pretty FAB price for Aigles.  I also won’t buy them because we’ve skipped the second half of winter and spring, and moved right into a sunny summer here.

They have them in virtually every color too.  But these are a few of my faves…

Daily Covet: Sandals with a Pop

Is there a theme today?  I guess if there was, it would be items that go pop!  But I popped in completely the opposite direction from the disco jeans…

I ran across these adorable sandals today.

Seychelles Snapdragon Heels, modcloth.com $89

While it would be easy to throw them on with a beige linen sundress I have, I went looking for another feminine frock instead.  Something with a little more oomph!  Bring on the very affordable Dorothy Perkins sleeveless dress:

Navy belted pintuck dress, dorothyperkins.com $39

But an outfit isn’t complete without statement-making jewelry and a classic handbag.  So here you go!

Dorothy Perkins dress, Seychelles sandals, Kate Spade handbag (sale $159)

Daily Covet: All Buttoned Up

UGG® Australia 'Bailey Button Triplet Boot, Nordstrom.com $200

My Uggs have seen better days.  They are my 3rd pair, and because I wear them outside in the rain, snow and ice every year, they tend to get  pretty beat up, pretty quick.

So I have my sights set on my next pair.  This cute pair of Bailey Button boots.  In gray this time, since I wear black pretty much all winter, and I don’t want black because they show too much “slop” from Midwest winter weather.

And I like the 3 buttons, so that it’s easier to tuck in my jeans or leggings!

Santa baby, listen up!

Daily Covet: On The Wild Side

Cole Haan Air Morgan Pump 90, Zappos.com $348

And when I say “wild”, I mean in a “practical” sort of way, because really how wild are chunky-heeled loafers?

This is the thing.  These girls are cute.  So cute, in fact, that they’d almost be cuter sitting on your mantel where you can see the red quilting inside.

But if you are one of those women, who take your shoes off under your desk – just make sure they are strategically placed for people that are walking by to see.

However, if you insist on wearing them, and I would recommend that you do, pair them with red up top instead.  Or something more neutral, with a large red bag.

Either way, these combination Cole Haan and Nike Air beauties, mean you’ll walk the corporate halls in amazing comfort and impeccable style.

Daily Covet: I wasn’t kidding…

MARC by Marc Jacobs Tie up boots, Zappos.com $295

I tweeted this morning that the cold weather that befell us overnight (it was 70 degrees yesterday!), had me shopping for boots, coats, hats and more fun winter accessories.  And I wasn’t kidding…

My favorite find of the day?  These adorable MARC by Marc Jacobs tie up boots.

I love the wedge heel and the gold detail at the end of the shoe laces.  I would wear these with pretty much anything in my closet.  Well, except my little black sweats, of course!

Daily Covet: Give me the boot

I have a very sad, old pair of very loved and heavily worn black knee boots.  I think they have accomplished their mission and are ready to hang up their soles this fall.  So I’m on the hunt for new boots, preferably equestrian-style riding boots.

I tend to love the ones that have a hint of metal detail – or maybe even detail that beats you over the head – so here is what I’ve come up with.  Three of my favorite pairs in black, of course!

Salvatore Ferragamo 'Fersea' Leather Boot, Nordstrom $695.00

Tory Burch 'Aaden' Tall Boot, Nordstrom $495.00

DKNYC 'Cascade' Boot, Nordstrom $159.95

Surprisingly, the least expensive ones are my favorites.  They are a little more casual, have a great lug sole (perfect for Midwestern winters!) and I love the “ruched” look of the shaft.  I’ll keep looking but I think these are a great start to my search, don’t you?!
