Daily Covet: All that glitters is Swarovski

Gilt.com sent me my daily email of all their sales.  I usually make a quick run through on things I’m interested in, and a few pieces caught my eye this morning.

I love Swarovski.  I love that they are beautiful and affordable.  And I love that they regularly partner with other brands to produce one-of-a-kind pieces.  But today, I love these three pieces the most.  Simple, classic and a chance to wear some bling.

Daily Covet: Sandals with a Pop

Is there a theme today?  I guess if there was, it would be items that go pop!  But I popped in completely the opposite direction from the disco jeans…

Daily Covet: These Bubbles Aren’t For Kids

I’ve been buying fun, costume-y jewelry for years.  Some of it I get rid of, some of it I keep forever, and most of it – well, I never actually wear it.

But I’m turning over a new leaf.  Not a resolution really, but I’m trying to put some effort into getting dressed every morning.  I’ve always been of the opinion that if you look good, you feel good.  And I need all the feeling good I can get this winter!

I have had my eye on this necklace or a version of this necklace for a few years now.  Because of the price, and the number of times I would have actually put it on (zero), I’ve declined.  But as of today, I have successfully worn something other than my stud earrings and my wedding band, three days in a row!

What can’t you wear this with?  A strapless taffetta dress.  A white, slub t-shirt and jeans.  A cashmere twinset and pencil skirt.  A button down flannel shirt (as long as it’s a flattering cut) and a wool mini… the possibilities are endless.  And it’s such an effortless way to say, “Hey, I put some thought into getting dressed today!”

It might just be time to spend a little of my Christmas money…

A pony hair handbag that is….

Don’t worry, ponies get haircuts just like we do.  So it’s not like it’s coming from a hide or anything.

This gorgeous bag has a rich black sheen and tote style handals.  It’s big and roomy enough for this mom, who actually has a hard time filling up large handbags, unlike most other moms.  (The key is having a BFF, who brings everything she and I both need in her bag!)

I have been introduced to a website that is beyond my wildest dreams.  If I was any kind of technically-savy, I would say that I should’ve made it up myself a long time ago.

Everyone knows I’m mad about scouring the Internet, stores and what have you, to find and post things that I really, really need.  Ok, want.  But sometimes it feels like I need them.  And it’s my blog.

Yesterday, I posted this little ensemble I put together on Polyvore.com.  Polyvore.com has everything a girl could want in their virtual closet, PLUS backgrounds, text, different fonts and more.  I can’t even tell you how much time I have spent on this site, in under a week and CANNOT believe that I didn’t know about this sooner.

I blame my high-maintenance children. Always wanting to eat…or to bathe….or to be dropped off at school.

But right now, I have time to myself to simply put great outfits together – complete with handbags, jewelry, shoes and other great accessories.

I worked on this little number this week.  Enjoy!

Daily Covet: I Tote-ally want this!

Tory Burch Jaden Tote, Neiman Marcus $245I recently posted some black patent flats as my daily covet.  But what good are adorable ballet flats without the coordinating tote?  And what better look for early spring than black patent leather?  It goes with everything from casual jeans and a t-shirt to a more work-appropriate pencil skirt and crisp white blouse.

This is a great little tote perfect for traveling or just going about your business around town.  It’s big enough to fit all your necessities and maybe a little more, if you have small children like I do.

Yep, this is a must have for the coming season!

Daily Covet: My workout duds are strung out

I’m sure you won’t be surprised to find out that many times, my tendency to work out is based largely on the gear (read outfits) I get to wear.  I spend much more time in my workout wear than pretty much anything else I own.  I usually put it on first thing in the morning to ensure that I have no excuse not to go on a moment’s notice that day.  With that said, my workout wear gets it’s fair share of “overwear!”

Most of my yoga pants are now a washed out black-ish color from thousands of washes.  My sports bras and tanks are all too tight and too short because I have a much bigger chest and midsection post kids.  My socks that wick away moisture are also gray-ish and are losing their elasticity from too many tumbles in the dryer.  My running shoes have met their mileage limit… this has more to do with walking around the zoo with my children than it does actually logging miles on the trails.

With all of that said, my covet today is about new gear.  Sometimes looking good inspires me to do things that make me feel good and that are good for me.  So my covet this day is new running shoes (I buy the same exact pair of Nikes every time!) and new workout clothes.   I love these cute and comfortable options from Athleta.com… and since I’m at it, I wouldn’t mind looking like the model either!

Daily Covet: Bag Lady

I have a lot of bags.  Most of them are oversized and diaper, wipe-y, sippy cup-worthy.  I do not have a lot of “going out” bags, which is why I am constantly eyeing them in stores, online and in my favorite magazine “Lucky!”  I found this most recent bag in the December issue and I’m putting it at the top of my Christmas list.

It’s a little rocker chic but the long chain strap makes it seem a little more refined too.

I’d wear it with dark jeans and a shrunken blazer or with a pencil skirt and fitted sweater.  Heck, I’d even put it on with a little black dress for a special night out.

I guess what I am trying to say is, you really can wear it with everything!

I can totally see her in this cute topper with tons of earthy, ruffled layers and toothpick cords.

So cute for a chilly day about town and a great splurge for a little pre-Christmas present to herself… while she shops for others, of course!

I found the cutest little accessory.  But what a big statement, it would make!  Everyone knows that pave ball earrings are all the rage this seasons and you can find them in every store from Target to Neiman Marcus.  I even picked up a gold-toned pair on my recent trip to Kansas City.

This cute, little rose-gold plated, pave ball ring would be just the right amount of bling to pair up with my earrings and it’s fairly inexpensive!  I’m thinking it be so cute with my gold sequin sweater  and simple black sheath for a New Year’s Eve Party!
