Daily Covet: Leather Jacket with Peplum

I’m a fan of leather jackets, and always have been.

I think there has been maybe one jacket that I actually got rid of.  The rest of my jackets hang on a rack in my basement or in my coat closet until they are needed.

When I found this Imogene leather jacket from Tory Burch, I immediately fell in love.

The color is unique, the peplum is so right now, and I love the collarless style too.

Oh, and it matches an absolutely delish leather pencil skirt too.  YUM!

Daily Covet: Give Me the Boot(s)!

It’s that time of year again.  The time of year when it’s still 5000 degrees out, and I start making my list for fall.

I do it every year.  And every year, the things I buy sit in my closet for months until it actually gets cool enough to wear something for fall.

Needless to say, I have started combing the virtual shoe department at Neimans, and although most of these are way out of this girl’s reach… I heart them anyway.

Take a look at some beautiful fall boot styles I would prefer not to live without…

Get Into the Stripes of Things

There is notshortage of stripes this spring.

You will find them on throw pillows, dresses, wedge sandals, iphone cases and pretty much anything else you can think of.  So because I love them, and because there are so many to be found, here is a little bundling of some stripes I tracked down.  (Complete shopping info via Polyvore.com too.)

The all-occasion flip-flop from Tory Burch

I wear flip flops all summer, with everything from dresses to jeans to shorts.  My current flip flops are looking pretty ratty, and so it’s time to replace.

I realize these are pretty pricey flip-flops, but look at the comfy padded footbeds and the cute, gold logo.  I can totally picture these with khaki shorts or an LBD (little black dress) and straw tote.

Daily Covet: The Perfect 10

It’s time to think about fall and winter style, you know…

After all, it is the dead of summer.  With a bad case of the global warmings.

Alas, I cannot be shopping for stuff to wear this summer… unless it’s on a major sale and I’m planning ahead.

But I’m so right now.  And right now, I’m shoe shopping.  I have come up with quite possibly the perfect shoe wardrobe to take me through fall and winter, holidays included.

Let’s start with the basics.  While I don’t particularly love working out – I’m glad once it’s done and I’m even more glad to have perfect running shoes while I’m working out.  I have now owned 4 pairs of these Nike Zoom Vomeros and they make running – even for me – not so much like hell on earth.  Too bad the 6th Generation comes in such ugly salt water taffy colors…

Because I am a stay-at-home mom most days and work from the comfort of my own home the others, I pretty much live in jeans most of the time.  That means my uniform generally includes ballet flats and this fall, some cute penny loafers, jeans and layered tees or turtleneck sweaters.  Black, red and the leopard print pair (because I’m not big on brown), should solve any color combo conundrum I’d have.

Red Penny Loafer, Tory Burch $250

Giuseppe Zanotti Leopard Haircalf Skull Ballet Flats, Saks Fifth Avenue $595

And because I live in jeans and because they are usually long – even my favorite petite length Joe’s Provocoteaurs – I generally need heels.  Especially when the weather starts getting sloppy.  That’s why shoes, boots or “shooties” are perfect for dressing up, dressing down and just seeing the world from a higher vantage point.

La Canadienne Ivana, Zappos $325

La Canadienne Korey, Zappos.com $305

On the rare occasion I have to dress up – hopefully, all my dressing up occasions won’t be funerals like last year – I would love to have the perfect pair of black pumps.  In my former life, black pumps were always on hand, yet,  somehow I’ve managed to go several seasons without the perfect pumps.  Perhaps, I’m holding out for the mother (or father?) of all pumps – Louboutins!

Let’s not forget the most important footwear I own, my Uggs.  With jeans, yoga pants, my pajamas or anything else I happen to be wearing, these throw-on, cozy boots that grace my breezeway from October to April, are pretty much a daily occurence… even perfect for throwing on to get the paper, putting the out-going mail out, running to the store for ice cream at 10pm… you get the picture.

And lastly, the holidays.  We usually have several holiday events to attend.  What better way to spruce up a little black dress than with these electric pink pumps.  And hey, I just happen to have a matching handbag already, which means all I have to spring for are the shoes!

Manolo Blahnik Jeweled Pump, Nordstrom $945.00

So, here is my “Perfect 10″ for fall.  Don’t do the math.  Just let me live in this dream world a little longer!

Wine – No cheese party

The color for fall is anything in the red wine category.  Lucky for us winos, right?

Also lucky… it’s almost everywhere you look.  Les Pommettes, Neiman Marcus, J. Crew and more are featuring beautiful hues, fabrics and details that will make wine fun – even without the cheese!

Here are some of my favorite garments, shoes and accessories, perfect for fall and right into the holiday season.

Clockwise from Left: Crystal bar ID bracelet $50.00, J.Crew $50; Red Penny Loafer, toryburch.com $250; Burberry London Silky Velvet Puffer Jacket, Neiman Marcus $1095; Kanupriya Coral Ring, LesPommettes.com $145; Peach Corset-Toe Platform, Blood Red, Lastcall.com $114.50; Prada Tessuto Gaufre Nylon Tote, Neiman Marcus $1295; Gurhan Ruby Wire Earrings, Neiman Marcus $ 5420

Daily Covet: I Tote-ally want this!

Tory Burch Jaden Tote, Neiman Marcus $245I recently posted some black patent flats as my daily covet.  But what good are adorable ballet flats without the coordinating tote?  And what better look for early spring than black patent leather?  It goes with everything from casual jeans and a t-shirt to a more work-appropriate pencil skirt and crisp white blouse.

This is a great little tote perfect for traveling or just going about your business around town.  It’s big enough to fit all your necessities and maybe a little more, if you have small children like I do.

Yep, this is a must have for the coming season!
