Daily Covet: Anthropologie Willoughby Sofa

I need a new sofa.

Well, I need another sofa.

I love the sofa I have, but I am dying to add some bold color to my otherwise subdued living room.  And on a rainy day this week, I spent the day moving my furniture around and around to no avail.

This is the Willoughby sofa I have my eye on… in fact, Anthropologie has a whole gaggle of furniture I wouldn’t mind adding to my maison.

Take a good look at this lucious velvet sofa.  Isn’t it delish?

Daily Covet: Rug for Inspiration

I keep threatening to redecorate my sunroom, which also doubles as my children’s tv/play room.  Everything in there was pulled from somewhere else, or originally intended for something else… like my husband’s beautiful, but way to big for the space, desk.

This morning, I found this amazing deal of a rug on Haute Look, and again it has me thinking about color schemes and redecorating.  I know I want a beach-y feel in there, and plan to paint the walls pale blue but from there, I haven’t made any significant decisions.  This rug though, makes me think light blue, navy and orange for the sunroom….

Something like this (shopping info on Polyvore.com)…

Daily Covet: Bright Ideas

Lamps.  I love them, but have a hard time committing to them, for some reason.  I would really like some new lamps for my living room (along with tons of other stuff for my living room), but I just can’t seem to figure out which way to go with them.

I found these gorgeous Holyoke Trophy Lamps, which scream out for Hollywood glam white sofas and mirrored furniture … neither of which I own.

But they do kind of make me want to start over…

Daily Covet: I could go another way with an apple duvet

Remember that post I did about the cute sheet set for my guest bedroom?

Well, I found a duvet and sham set in the same apple green on OneKingsLane, but with a super springy damask print this time.

Imagine this Miranda duvet cover set paired with the white and navy sheets I already have… now all I need is some graphic navy and white curtains, and the guest room redecorate will be underway!

Out-of-closet redesign for shoes

I’m out of closet space.

My old home has very small closets, definitely not built for a clothes horse like me.

There are two small closets in the master bedroom, one for each my husband and me.  And one in the guest room, which I have taken over, as well.  I keep special occasion items in there usually, and sometimes blazers or jackets that are a little more bulky.

I have been swapping out my shoes for six years now.  Putting the decidely fall/winter ones away in the spring, and the spring/summer ones away in the fall.  It’s a big pain, and sometimes they overlap.  Since I am a bit of a collector of shoes, I often forget great shoes that aren’t right in front of me.

So, I’ve been hunting for ways to store shoes within reach all year long.  And these are some of the great ideas other people have had.

Until I find a piece of furniture that looks like this last pic, maybe I’ll just use one side of the crib I just took apart instead!  What d’ya think?

The quickest way to redecorate – throw pillows!

I found these pillows this morning.  And upon titling this post, I remember one of the blogs I read making the same statement.

But it’s true!

Changing the pillows can give your decor a whole new look, which makes the bold statement that the next season is approaching.

And since I’m also trying to get around to remodeling my sunroom, I’m looking at colors that will compliment my soon-to-be slipcovered sofa!

Daily Covet: A Playroom with Room to Play

We need a playroom with some room to play.  Is that asking so much?

Last night, we decided that since my youngest has been wanting to sleep in the “guest bed,” which also is located in his room, it might be time for him to actually stop sleeping in his crib full time.

While my oldest begged us for almost a year for bunk beds, he declined the opportunity to finally sleep in the top bunk, as we had originally intended.  So we had the surprisingly easy task of taking the beds apart so that each boy has his own little twin bed.  In the same room!

The task we didn’t foresee was that of what do we do with everything that had it’s place before the room had two twins bed in it – unstacked.

I've been dreaming of this look since we've found out we were having our 2nd boy!

However, we are now missing an entire wall of formerly well-used real estate in the room.  Enter the need for a separate playroom, and that comes with a hitch.  That room also has to suffice as our family room in our basement.

Playrooms… playrooms…I perused google images for some ideas… and while it’s not this bad (from www.realsimple.com):

It's not this bad… YET.

It’s also not this good (from kencangbanget.com):

Great playroom, but my kids are not getting a nicer TV than me!

And let’s not talk crazy talk here (from http://www.roemahku.com):

Right… that'll happen.

But maybe something a little more this speed (from apartmenttherapy.com):

So this would be a nice room...

Why does a mixed-use space have to be so hard to create?

Daily Covet: Tranquility in the form of a chair.

Yep, another covet for today… who knows?  Maybe this will become the “hourly covet!”  Eh, probably not…

But I had to post because I have this desire to redecorate… or decorate… or purge… and add.  You would think I was nesting.  I can assure you, I’m not.  However, I am looking for some space to call my own.  Some space to work, to be inspired, to be alone mostly.

When I saw this chair at Crate & Barrel, I started envisioning a small place in a my room with an antique writing table (which I already own) and my new chair.  My bedroom is already Tiffany blue, white and a hint of navy in my asian-inspired lamps.  So why not throw in this crisp white chair, juxtaposed with a very modern navy frame?

The combination of blue and crisp white is so appealing, that it has practically taken over my house.  I may want to consider something hot pink, red or bright green… but not today.

Sun Room, Option #2

Yesterday, I posted “Option #1″ for my sun room turned play/TV room.

Because my living room is blue and the sun room is set off by French doors with windows, another option is to just continue the color into the sun room.  See “Option #2″ for a beautiful new space.

Daily Covet: It’s time to put MAC to work!

HGTV Home Design for MAC, apple.com $49.95

Last Christmas, my darling husband surprised me with a Macbook.  I wanted one specifically to pacify that creative side in me.  To date, I have yet to use it for anything remotely resembling create and design!  As I was looking around for some software that would allow me to dig my heels in, I came across this HGTV Home Design for Mac software.

I have previously done some virtual room design and redecorate on sites like Lowes.com or EthanAllen.com but neither was very intuitive and I usually ended up giving up before I had accomplished what I really wanted to.

So today, I am coveting this seemingly awesome software so that I can put MAC to work!
