Daily Covet: J. Crew Macalister Boots

It’s time for school shoes!

While hunting for cute shoes for my boys, I instead happened upon these Macalister Boots from J.Crew for me!

Sometimes I am fortunate enough to be able to wear girls’ shoes instead of womens, and these might just be some that I need to invest in.

These glitter boots are pretty practical after all, right?

Maybe not, but that never stopped me before!

Daily Covet: Give Me the Boot(s)!

It’s that time of year again.  The time of year when it’s still 5000 degrees out, and I start making my list for fall.

I do it every year.  And every year, the things I buy sit in my closet for months until it actually gets cool enough to wear something for fall.

Needless to say, I have started combing the virtual shoe department at Neimans, and although most of these are way out of this girl’s reach… I heart them anyway.

Take a look at some beautiful fall boot styles I would prefer not to live without…

Daily Covet: Just Plain Studly

Co-op Studded Ankle Boot, Barneys.com $179 sale

My New Year’s resolution?  Less time in little black sweats.  More time blow drying my hair, wearing mascara and dressing like a grown up.

Does this sound shallow?  Inconsequential?  Easy?  HA!  Walk in this stay-at-home mom’s shoes, friends….

In fact, these shoes from Barney’s.

On Tuesday this week, I went to put on these cute Pilco jeans I procured at Anthropologie, and realized that I just do not have fun footwear to match a chambray shirt, a beige oatmeal swing sweater and my faded rose-colored jeans. I spent much time that day searching online for the perfect boots… and didn’t find them.  But today, lo and behold, adorable boots from CO-OP.

Before you gasp at the 4″+ heels, take a gander at the fun platform… which makes these perfect for flared and my still-too-long Joe’s Provocateur (read petite) jeans too.

It was meant to be.

Daily Covet: All Buttoned Up

UGG® Australia 'Bailey Button Triplet Boot, Nordstrom.com $200

My Uggs have seen better days.  They are my 3rd pair, and because I wear them outside in the rain, snow and ice every year, they tend to get  pretty beat up, pretty quick.

So I have my sights set on my next pair.  This cute pair of Bailey Button boots.  In gray this time, since I wear black pretty much all winter, and I don’t want black because they show too much “slop” from Midwest winter weather.

And I like the 3 buttons, so that it’s easier to tuck in my jeans or leggings!

Santa baby, listen up!

Daily Covet: I wasn’t kidding…

MARC by Marc Jacobs Tie up boots, Zappos.com $295

I tweeted this morning that the cold weather that befell us overnight (it was 70 degrees yesterday!), had me shopping for boots, coats, hats and more fun winter accessories.  And I wasn’t kidding…

My favorite find of the day?  These adorable MARC by Marc Jacobs tie up boots.

I love the wedge heel and the gold detail at the end of the shoe laces.  I would wear these with pretty much anything in my closet.  Well, except my little black sweats, of course!

Daily Covet: Give me the boot

I have a very sad, old pair of very loved and heavily worn black knee boots.  I think they have accomplished their mission and are ready to hang up their soles this fall.  So I’m on the hunt for new boots, preferably equestrian-style riding boots.

I tend to love the ones that have a hint of metal detail – or maybe even detail that beats you over the head – so here is what I’ve come up with.  Three of my favorite pairs in black, of course!

Salvatore Ferragamo 'Fersea' Leather Boot, Nordstrom $695.00

Tory Burch 'Aaden' Tall Boot, Nordstrom $495.00

DKNYC 'Cascade' Boot, Nordstrom $159.95

Surprisingly, the least expensive ones are my favorites.  They are a little more casual, have a great lug sole (perfect for Midwestern winters!) and I love the “ruched” look of the shaft.  I’ll keep looking but I think these are a great start to my search, don’t you?!

Daily Covet: The Perfect 10

It’s time to think about fall and winter style, you know…

After all, it is the dead of summer.  With a bad case of the global warmings.

Alas, I cannot be shopping for stuff to wear this summer… unless it’s on a major sale and I’m planning ahead.

But I’m so right now.  And right now, I’m shoe shopping.  I have come up with quite possibly the perfect shoe wardrobe to take me through fall and winter, holidays included.

Let’s start with the basics.  While I don’t particularly love working out – I’m glad once it’s done and I’m even more glad to have perfect running shoes while I’m working out.  I have now owned 4 pairs of these Nike Zoom Vomeros and they make running – even for me – not so much like hell on earth.  Too bad the 6th Generation comes in such ugly salt water taffy colors…

Because I am a stay-at-home mom most days and work from the comfort of my own home the others, I pretty much live in jeans most of the time.  That means my uniform generally includes ballet flats and this fall, some cute penny loafers, jeans and layered tees or turtleneck sweaters.  Black, red and the leopard print pair (because I’m not big on brown), should solve any color combo conundrum I’d have.

Reva patent leather, ToryBurch $195

Red Penny Loafer, Tory Burch $250

Giuseppe Zanotti Leopard Haircalf Skull Ballet Flats, Saks Fifth Avenue $595

And because I live in jeans and because they are usually long – even my favorite petite length Joe’s Provocoteaurs – I generally need heels.  Especially when the weather starts getting sloppy.  That’s why shoes, boots or “shooties” are perfect for dressing up, dressing down and just seeing the world from a higher vantage point.

Elizabeth and James Open-Toe Platform Pump, Bergdorf Goodman $325

La Canadienne Ivana, Zappos $325

La Canadienne Korey, Zappos.com $305

On the rare occasion I have to dress up – hopefully, all my dressing up occasions won’t be funerals like last year – I would love to have the perfect pair of black pumps.  In my former life, black pumps were always on hand, yet,  somehow I’ve managed to go several seasons without the perfect pumps.  Perhaps, I’m holding out for the mother (or father?) of all pumps – Louboutins!

Christian Louboutin Platform Pump, Bergdorf Goodman $695.00

Let’s not forget the most important footwear I own, my Uggs.  With jeans, yoga pants, my pajamas or anything else I happen to be wearing, these throw-on, cozy boots that grace my breezeway from October to April, are pretty much a daily occurence… even perfect for throwing on to get the paper, putting the out-going mail out, running to the store for ice cream at 10pm… you get the picture.

Grey Ugg Classic Tall, Nordstrom $180

And lastly, the holidays.  We usually have several holiday events to attend.  What better way to spruce up a little black dress than with these electric pink pumps.  And hey, I just happen to have a matching handbag already, which means all I have to spring for are the shoes!

Manolo Blahnik Jeweled Pump, Nordstrom $945.00

So, here is my “Perfect 10″ for fall.  Don’t do the math.  Just let me live in this dream world a little longer!

Daily Covet: This winter, I’ll have some “Spring” in my step!

I’ve been looking for some water proof boots for my short commute back and forth to preschool 3 days a week.  Fortunately and unfortunately, my son’s preschool is right across the street, which means we can walk out our front door and up the block to get there in a matter of minutes.  This also means that it’s absurd to drive it when the weather is horribly nasty, slick and wet.

So I am on the lookout for rain/snow boots.  I have been looking at these particular Sportos for a few months now and have finally decided to make them my feature.  I love the print, calling to mind a little spring time even in the dead of winter.

And speaking of dead, I am completely dead set on ordering them too.  If it wasn’t Christmas shopping season… the season for giving… to other people, I probably would’ve done it already without guilt.

And if I need further motivation, these are one of the least expensive pairs of boots on Zappos.com.  This is something that never happens to me!
