Picnic in the Park
We are very fortunate to have multiple venues, which hold free concerts all summer long.
We made our first appearance at the season opener of Stinson Park’s summer concert series this past weekend in the beautiful Aksarben Village.
And we are anticipating the beginning of Jazz on the Green on it’s new-ish home green at Midtown Crossing.
With those events dotting our summer calendar, we have ample opportunity to stock up on all our outdoor dining accessories. Some we’ve already procured… some are on our wish list.
While we have a great picnic basket with generous space for wine, treats and dinnerware, you may be on the lookout for one yourself. Why not this one that also doubles as a handy cooler?
While just about anything will do for a picnic blanket, our cotton sheet that needed to be washed up upon our arrival home left me wishing we had this large, zip-up blanket, which you can conveniently wipe up when you are done using it.
One thing we did miss this time around were these cool wine stakes to hold our full wine glasses when nature (or busy children) beckoned.
And if you attend these gatherings with babies, who are just learning to crawl, like we did, you may want to get your snacks up off the ground. These portable tables also give you better leverage to cut, spread and serve up your scrumptious picnic snacks.
And if the ground is slightly wet or you have bad knees, and you’d prefer to get your back side up off the ground, these cute (and bright!) chairs are such and inexpensive way to enjoy summer concerts in the park on the cheap!
There are tons of other fun accessories you can add to your outdoor evening out. Melamine trays, plastic stemware, 2-in-1 bottle/wine openers to name a few. What are you go-to items for picnics in the park?
What will you wear for Memorial Day?

Daily Covet: Twinkle Lights & Backyard Landscaping
Why wait until Christmas to break out the Christmas lights?
I would argue that Christmas lights are better in the summer than they are sans sub zero temperatures anyway. It’s fun to sit out under a dark sky filled with twinkling stars, while you have your own personal, twinkling stars close enough to touch.
I’m on a mission to find twinkle lights that you don’t have to plug in because, after all, who wants ugly, heavy-duty extension cords running through their backyard paradise? Not me.
Trina Turk at Banana Republic
Trina Turk at Banana Republic (June 7) is one of the most exciting things I’ve heard this spring, as far as fashion goes.
I adore Trina Turk’s prints and bright colors for spring and especially summer. And now these styles are a little more affordable at Banana Republic. While I vowed not to shop at BR anymore because of their awful customer service here in my city, y’all can fill your closet with contemporary, poppy prints at BR!
Here is the complete lookbook.

Bloomers aren’t just for toddlers.
A good friend and I often spend a few minutes outside preschool every morning after dropping off our 5YOs. The content of the conversation varies, but often times it’s about fashion, products or DIY.
A few times, another friend’s little girl has run from dropping off her older sister, in the cutest chambray bloomers ever. Friend #1 comments on them every time.
So when I ran across these chambray bloomers for “big girls,” I couldn’t wait to send them to her. And they were 1/2 off that day with a code from Lucky Magazine. I convinced her that they would be awesome over bikini bottoms for the pool, or for playing in the back yard with her kiddos. And after all, she does have great legs!

Have you “liked” LittleBlackSweats.com on Facebook Today?
Please do, my bloggy friends, as I am going to try to update that page more often.
Bon weekend,

No ordinary Loafers
I went looking for glitter ballet flats. I love how they look with plain old jeans and a t-shirt and thought it would be great “Mom Street Style.” Comfortable. Unexpected. While I did find quite a few pairs of adorable flats, I fell in love with these glitter loafers more!
Leave glitter loafers to Kate Spade, friends. Don’t like blue? They come in black, gold and rose too! And with a little bow tie to boot….er shoe.
