Daily Covet: TOMS made me eat my words

Ok, ok, I know, I know.  I’m not a TOMS fan.

As I mentioned, I love the TOMS mission.  Hate those little slipper-ish shoes.

However, I saw cute TOMS Burlap Bimini Stitchouts walking around this weekend while on vacation with my family.

I’m not 100% sure why I like these TOMS so much better, but it might be the more substantial soles and the cute red drawcord.  The TOMS looked cute on with short shorts and tees.

I can also picture them with boyfriend jeans and lightweight cardis for early fall.

TOMS, you made me eat my words!

Daily Covet: Tod’s handbag

Tod’s handbags are featured on MyHabit.com today.

And since I am bag-obssessed this week, you can bet I’ve already picked absolutely the most delish bag.

This white handbag with the khaki accents is a perfect bag for summer, and since global warming climate change has taken over this year, it may be pratical a lot longer than normal.

It would be an excellent carry-all for a busy mom.  And it’s also a great size for car trips or air travel too.  So, it’s not only a beautiful bag, but a smart bag too!

Daily Covet: The Thrill of Twill

Twill shorts from Old Navy are on my list today.

These shorts come in assorted prints and colors, and would be an inexpensive staple for this woman’s wardrobe.

Pair shorts with prints (see blog on that!) or pack them with plain, white tees for minimal luggage on vacation.

What’s more?  Get them for under $20!

Daily Covet: New England waterfront living

Summer is going fast.  My darling husband’s job is demanding, and not allowing for much of a summer vacation this year.

More than ever, our family could use a little R & R.  A little downtime.  A little un-plugging. (Join the crowd, I know!)

I keep daydreaming of a lonely seaside home.  A place where we could breath fresh sea air, sit under the stars and bury our feet in hot sand.  A place where we could ride bikes and lazily read in beach chairs.  A place where we could just be a family — without the hustle of activities, engagements, responsibilities.

This New England waterfront home looks like as good a place as any, right?

And since we are going to be on the beach, we’ll need great beach accessories!  How about these from OneKingsLane today?

Daily Covet: Clare Vivier Bags

I found Clare Vivier bags on a cool blog I get updates from almost daily.  Clare Vivier’s first creation was born out of the need for a more feminine laptop bag, which could accomodate her computer and personal affects while she traveled often for her job in French television.

Clare Vivier’s extensive collection of clutches, totes, iPad cases and more will WOW! you with vivid color and beautiful materials.  Below is the Tropézienne sac that put Clare and her gorgeous bags on the map, and a few of my other faves too!  (Photos credits from seevivier.com)

Daily Covet: Tote your favorite city

Tote your favorite city… and don’t get lost in it either, for that matter, when you carry this earth-friendly map tote from well, maptote on myhabit.com.

At 14″ x 15.5″, these are roomy enough for the beach, the farmer’s market or just to and from work.  Of course my fave is the Paris one, but there are other ones too, like the weekend getaway trio with Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and the Hamptons on them.

I love them so much that I want them all.  One for $22 or three for $30.  You do the math.

A Walk In The Clouds At The Met.

Even more unique than some of the “fashion” (courtesy of the LA Times blog) at the most recent MET Gala, is this rooftop installation by Argentinian artist Tomás Saraceno. This work of art is perched atop the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and offers amazing views of the city.  Check out more of the stunning photos at www.whatwelikenyc.com.

This is definitely going on my must-visit list!

Daily Covet: Paris in Color

Speaking of Paris… I ran across this book that is to be released on April 18th.

The book is 128 presumably beautiful pages of photographs taken by Nichole and Evan Robertson.  I can’t wait to see Paris at its colorful best right from the comfort of my own home (since I can’t be there, that is!)

I also can’t wait to get my name on the waiting list.  And so can you right here!

Paris in Color, amazon.com $11.87 (Book cover photo taken from author's website at littlebrownpen.com)

22 hours…48 minutes

I am literally counting the hours & minutes until I leave for the weekend.  My kids are wearing me out.  They are wonderful but they are wearing me out!

A good friend of mine has a house up in Okoboji and 7 of us are going sans kids, sans husbands for the weekend!  I’m going to sleep all night, get up when I want to, sit by the lake and drink margaritas and wear big girls clothes instead of my yoga pants.

Booze cruise and dinner out are also on our agenda.  What more can I ask for?  Check back in for the deets on my weekend.
