Daily Covet: Snakes & Shifts

Snakes and shifts?  I don’t usually like snakes (I loath them), but I do like love shift dresses.  They are perfect for a girlio like me, who wears one size on top and a different one on the bottom.

This shift dress from French Connection is especially cute because of the “tough,” metallic snake print juxtaposed with the femininity of a 60′s era dress.

A perfect union really.

Uggs to your wedding?

Remember a while back when I wrote about how Ugg makes virtually everything.  Well…. I ain’t lyin’!

Ugg now has a wedding shop, which includes furry flip flops, metallic leather short boots (those have been around) and irridescent sequins classic short boots.

I’m not sure their intent is to actually have brides wear these under their wedding dresses (not that they wouldn’t be thrilled at that photo op!), but who would actually need “wedding uggs” in May, June or July?  Couples honeymooning in Chile?

Daily Covet: Tote your favorite city

Tote your favorite city… and don’t get lost in it either, for that matter, when you carry this earth-friendly map tote from well, maptote on myhabit.com.

At 14″ x 15.5″, these are roomy enough for the beach, the farmer’s market or just to and from work.  Of course my fave is the Paris one, but there are other ones too, like the weekend getaway trio with Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and the Hamptons on them.

I love them so much that I want them all.  One for $22 or three for $30.  You do the math.

Eco-friendly nails

Priti NYC is debuting a new collection in some super fashion-forward shades for your nails.

So fashion forward, the likes of Stella McCartney and Thakoon had models don this ultra-hip polish at Fashion Week’s Fall ’12 shows.

These are a few of my faves, but be sure to check out more, along with other eco-conscious cosmetics at Priti NYC.

Seeing RED overcoat & spotted dress

I’ve posted RED Valentino a few times on this blog, so it should be no surprise to you that I think this baby sister brand to Valentino is AB FAB.

I especially love this RED overcoat and red and white spotted dress.  Both pieces are amazingly feminine with adorable details that call to mind lots of the fashion I see and love on AMC’s Mad Men.

Daily Covet: Magnesite-stone cuff

I’m going through all the email that came in today while I was golfing, and that includes all my retail updates that show up several times per day.

Lastcall.com sent me their usual sale, 30% off already on sale prices, and I instantly fell in love with this turquoise and gold cuff.  I’m picturing it with a white linen tunic and gold sandals.  It just makes me think of summer, and summer is well on its way by now!

Happy Saturday evening bloggy friends!

Daily Covet: Chloé bikini in my dreams…

It’s not bloody likely that I will ever wear a white bikini.  It’s a good day when I will put on one at all – which is to say when my children are the only ones at the pool to see me in it.

But if I were to regularly wear a bikini.  And if it did happen to be white.  I would be wearing this Chloé one with the gold scalloped trim!

If Chloé makes one more thing that I adore and can’t afford, I will JUST die!  Luckily, for life’s sake, a white bikini is probably never in my future.  So I will live another day.

But isn’t it cute?!

Daily Covet: Emerging Artist, Leigh Viner

One Kings Lane often features emerging artists with some really fantastic art.   I am usually drawn to landscapes (although I own almost none!), but I also love fashion-y inspired art, as well.  Shocker, I know.

Leigh Viner was one of the artists featured recently and I adore pretty much everything One Kings Lane is offering.  Here is a sampling of my faves…  And the price points are UH-MAZING!

Insoucient, Leigh Viner, OneKingsLane.com $189-$299

Lanvin, Leigh Viner, OneKingsLane.com $199-$289

Abstractions Aside, Leigh Viner, OneKingsLane.com $199-$289

Cricket, Leigh Viner, OneKingsLane.com $199-$289

Take a peak at peep-toe Cole Haans

There are few things better than the marriage between shoe maker extraordinaire and sneaker maker extraordinaire.  Several years ago, I bought two pairs of Cole Haan ballet flats with Nike Air technology.  I was pregnant at the time, and just needed comfortable shoes that I could chase my then 2 1/2YO  around in, without looking like a schlep.

They were on sale, so I treated myself to both pairs, one leopard calf hair with chocolate patent around the edges and the other, which were zebra calf hair with black patent edges.  They have been amazing shoes now for over 3 years, and may just be the first pairs of shoes I have actually “worn out.”

So, I’m looking for new ones.  These Cole Haan Air Tali Jeweled Ballerina flats are a little more summery and a little less all-purpose than the calf hair ones, but I still love them.  And if I’m going to pay good money for a pedicure, I definitely want to show off my toes anyway!

Daily Covet: J. Crew’s Crewcuts for the crew

I often forget to update my older son’s wardrobe.  The younger one has clothing to wear and grow into en masse.

However, it never fails that a calendar turn to a new season leaves my 5YO with floods (I like to call the “mapris,” men’s capris) and too tight t-shirts, which hey! look great on on super hot fireman, but not so much on skinny little boys.

I invested a small fortune into shorts last year, and those seem to fit, but we are quickly growing out of the over, oversized H&M tees in the 2-4 size… really more like a 5-6 size.  And luckily, I have been able to ban the bears watching TV on a shirt that says, “Salt Lake City,” a gift from unnamed family members.

So out with the old and in with the new.  New J.Crew that is.  As soon as their bi-monthly 30% off sale hits, I’m going to fill my virtual cart with adorable, distressed tees and sweatshirts in one size larger, so I don’t have to do this again next year… barring a ridiculous growth spurt.
