Daily Covet: Tranquility in the form of a chair.

Yep, another covet for today… who knows?  Maybe this will become the “hourly covet!”  Eh, probably not…

But I had to post because I have this desire to redecorate… or decorate… or purge… and add.  You would think I was nesting.  I can assure you, I’m not.  However, I am looking for some space to call my own.  Some space to work, to be inspired, to be alone mostly.

When I saw this chair at Crate & Barrel, I started envisioning a small place in a my room with an antique writing table (which I already own) and my new chair.  My bedroom is already Tiffany blue, white and a hint of navy in my asian-inspired lamps.  So why not throw in this crisp white chair, juxtaposed with a very modern navy frame?

The combination of blue and crisp white is so appealing, that it has practically taken over my house.  I may want to consider something hot pink, red or bright green… but not today.

My New Year’s resolution?  Less time in little black sweats.  More time blow drying my hair, wearing mascara and dressing like a grown up.

Does this sound shallow?  Inconsequential?  Easy?  HA!  Walk in this stay-at-home mom’s shoes, friends….

In fact, these shoes from Barney’s.

On Tuesday this week, I went to put on these cute Pilco jeans I procured at Anthropologie, and realized that I just do not have fun footwear to match a chambray shirt, a beige oatmeal swing sweater and my faded rose-colored jeans. I spent much time that day searching online for the perfect boots… and didn’t find them.  But today, lo and behold, adorable boots from CO-OP.

Before you gasp at the 4″+ heels, take a gander at the fun platform… which makes these perfect for flared and my still-too-long Joe’s Provocateur (read petite) jeans too.

It was meant to be.

Our family has taken up ice skating lately.  This afternoon, we went with some friends from my son’s preschool for another spin around the ice, and got talked into buying a season pass to the outdoor rink.  True to form, the rental skates sucked and hurt my feet.

It was just like when I took up skiing as a kid, and had the hardest time finding boots to fit and be comfortable.

So here I am, not 4 hours after purchasing our season skating pass, coveting my own pretty, white figure skates.  They are pretty inexpensive these days.  You can get a recreational pair for as little at $39.99.  These particular skates are a little more expensive, but I figured my chances of actually finding a cheaper pair to be comfortable enough would be slim to none.

I think these would be sufficient for practicing my triple toe loops, don’t you?!

At some point, we need to add a master bathroom to our Circa 1925 tudor.  And while we don’t have the money to do it yet, I am constantly reinventing what it would like it to look like in my head (and on my Pinterest boards!)

I always thought I’d want white pedestal sinks and subway tile, with a Carrerra marble shower and floor.  Can you guess what’s been in the way of our addition?  (<$$)

However, I found this beautiful, little chest on Ross & Main, and immediately envisioned dropping a Carrerra marble top and sink into it.  The perfect size to have two of them side by side for his and hers (read keep your stuff away from my stuff!) sinks.

And with the warm tones of the wood, I may have to rethink my tile selection too.  But I’m channeling my inner Louis XIV, while I picture golden sunburst mirrors over the top.

As if I need another coffee table book in my life, I found this beautiful History of Fashion set in one of my daily emails.

And just in time, my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas.  I told her about my newest covet.  It’s got to be obvious by now, that I love, love, love clothing.  And not just the kind that is practical and keeps you protected.  In fact, I tend to lean more toward the clothing, which provides no practicality and that, which you actually have to protect.

But I figured this is a must-have for a girl who just can’t get enough fashion.  And it got glowing reviews from readers!

Now I’m crossing my fingers that Mom decides I must have it too!

Anthropologie drop earrings, $42

I hit up Anthropologie on Black Friday and saw these awesome earrings.  It was instant love for the deep green stones against gold hardware.  I didn’t buy them.  I was Christmas shopping afterall, and didn’t think I should spend $42 on earrings for myself that day.

But I went back with a friend tonight, and looked for them again… even secretly hoping they’d be on sale, and that I could justify getting them.  Not only not on sale.  Not there.

Rushed home and they aren’t even on Anthropologie.com either!  Sigh….

Love, love, love this blue color. It’s classic, elegant and the best part?  The dress is a mere $169!  But I wouldn’t be true to myself if there weren’t $500+ Manolo Blahnik shoes to go with it.  And why not?  Those you can wear forever.

Pair this stunning ensemble with very little else, but statement-making jewelry, and a black beaded silk jacket.

Now all I need is a place to go!
